The Bay of Islands Walkway

A ‘Full Circle Day Walk’ including two ferry crossings in the Bay of Islands
You can start the walkway anywhere in Russell, Okiato, Opua or Paihia and use the ferry between Opua/Okaito and Russel/Paihia.

On your way, you will most likely see birds like the Tui, Fantail, Kingfisher, Pukeko and, with a bit of luck, even see dolphins when crossing the ferry.

The Bay of Islands Walkway

What a way to have a sportive start of your holiday with Bay of Islands Campervans. Along the track, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants to choose from, stay at one of these camping grounds:  Beach side Holiday Park (beautiful view, and you can swim in the bay) or Top 10 Russel (top restaurants nearby from your campervan)

  • historic: site of manganese mining, and first NZ capital
  • bird-life of bush, wetland & coast
  • vineyard
